Recycling Events Coming Up!

Sustainable Saturday in Lisle
When: Sat., April 20, 9 a.m. to Noon.
Where: Benedictine University, Dan and Ada Rice Center Parking Lot, 5700 College Rd., Lisle, IL.
Annual Sustainable Saturday returns to Benedictine Univ. on April 20, 2013 from 9 a.m. to noon. Diverse, hard to recycle items accepted including fluorescent light bulbs, washers/dryers, stoves, copiers, scrap metal, lawn furniture, oxygen tanks & more. Woodridge Rotary Club Recycling Extravaganza
When: Sat., May 18, 8 a.m. to noon.
Where: Woodridge Park District’s Cypress Cove Family Aquatic Park (8301 S. Janes Avenue, Woodridge, IL).
This annual community event is scheduled for May 18, 2013 from 8 a.m. to noon. The Woodridge Rotary Recycling extravaganza continues to be a huge success thanks to the many volunteers, community groups, and residents who take the time to clean up their town and recycle responsibly. If you would like to volunteer individually or as a group, please contact Katy Rush at krush@vil.woodridge.il.us. The Woodridge Rotary is supported by SCARCE who assists in locating resources for the successful event. Darien Dash Registration Now Open

The Darien Dash will be on Saturday, May 19th at 8:30 a.m. at Community Park.  New for 2013, the Dash is CARA Green Certified and there will be Virtual  Racebags.  The Dash includes a 10K, 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run.  Registration is now open.  Please visit www.dariendash.com to register and for more information.

Successful Holiday Lights Recycling

The City of Darien would like to thank residents for another successful Holiday Lights Recycling program.  Over 1800 pounds of holiday lights were collected to be recycled this year.  The city was paid $280.95, and residents helped prevent 1873 pounds of lights from being put into the landfill!

Tutor Training at Indian Prairie Library

Help change someone’s future. Become an adult literacy tutor today. Literacy DuPage is a nonprofit, community-based organization that provides accessible and customized tutoring for adults. These tutor training sessions will prepare you to tutor other adults so that they can read, write, speak, and understand English.
