E-magazines
IPPL offers free e-magazines to IPPL cardholders. These downloadable magazines can be read on your computer, tablet, or smart phone through a provider called Zinio. All you need is an IPPL card and an email address. IPPL subscribes to these titles. To get started, follow these steps.
- Click here to go to the IPPL Zinio page.
- Click on CREATE ACCOUNT.
- Enter your library card number and click VALIDATE.
- Enter your email address, create a password, retype the password, and enter your name.
- NOTE: Zinio also sells magazines subscriptions to the public. If you already have a personal Zinio account, use the same info to set up your IPPL Zinio account.
- Click CREATE ACCOUNT.
- Check your email for a confirmation message and click the activation link.
- Click RETURN TO LOG IN.
- Enter your email and password and click LOG IN.
- Click on the magazine you want.
- On the next screen, create a personal Zinio account using your first name, last name, email address (use the same email address you used on your IPPL Zinio account) and password. (If you already have a personal Zinio account, sign in with that.)
- Select your Personal Preferences, if you want, otherwise hit skip.
- You can now read the magazine you selected.
- To add another magazine, click on the RETURN TO THE LIBRARY COLLECTION PAGE tab in your browser.
Ho
w can I read the magazines on my computer?
You can read them right away from your browser while you're on the internet. To read offline, install Zinio Desktop Reader.
How can I read the magazines on a tablet or smartphone?
You can read magazines on your tablet or smartphone by downloading the Zinio app. Download the app after you set up your IPPL Zinio account.
Zinio has apps for the iPad, iPhone, and Android devices. For the Kindle Fire, click here for details. Currently, there is no Zinio app for Barnes & Noble's Nook devices.
My accounts are all set up. Do I use my app or IPPL to get new magazines?
You need to start at IPPL's Zinio page to get new magazines. You must choose your magazine through IPPL's website. You read the magazine using your app.
Do I have to return the magazines? How long can I keep them?
One of the greatest features of Zinio is that once you download a magazine, you may keep it. When you select a magazine, you are not getting a subscription - just a single issue. You will need to add each month's issue from the IPPL Zinio page.
Why do I need two accounts?
Your IPPL Zinio account lets you access the magazines that IPPL has selected. Your personal Zinio account allows you to purchase magazines and personalize your own collection to view online or offline. Magazines added from IPPL's collection and those purchased through Zinio will show up in your personal Zinio account.
