What is the Story Stroll?Story Stroll Logo

The Story Stroll is a series of 10 storyboards on wooden posts along the sidewalk at Burr Ridge Village Center that readers of all ages can follow to finish the story. The Story Stroll encourages families to interact with each other and the world around them by reading and walking together. We believe that reading and walking both have numerous benefits and increase physical, mental, and intellectual health. The Story Stroll was built by Andrew Cole as an Eagle Scout Project and installed in October 2016. Thank you to Eagle Scout Troop 101, The Darien Lions Club, and Burr Ridge Village Center for making this project possible.

Where does the Story Stroll start?

You can visit the Story Stroll at Burr Ridge Village Center, 701 Village Center Drive in Burr Ridge. The first post is located just outside of Starbucks. Follow the story in a loop, down to Koehler, across to Topaz Café, and back towards Cooper’s Hawk.

What is the current story?

Blue Sky White Stars by Sarvinder Naberhaus

"Wonderfully spare, deceptively simple verses pair with richly evocative paintings to celebrate the iconic imagery of our nation, beginning with the American flag. Each spread, sumptuously illustrated by award-winning artist Kadir Nelson, depicts a stirring tableau, from the view of the Statue of Liberty at Ellis Island to civil rights marchers shoulder to shoulder, to a spacecraft at Cape Canaveral blasting off. This book is an ode to America then and now, from sea to shining sea." -Penguin Random House
