The library is partnering with the Darien Dragons 4H Club for an incubation project. Two dozen eggs are now housed in an incubator in our Kids & Teens Department, and approximately 6-8 white leghorn chicks are expected to hatch in early May. Join us over the next few weeks as we:
- Observe the eggs
- Meet the baby chicks
- Host activities in the WouldShop
- Explore the science and tools that turn an egg into a chicken at our Mini-Scientist Academy: Eggs to Chicks event for grades K-3 on Friday, April 21, 4-5 p.m. Register here.

With a gift of $75, you can personalize a 4″ x 8″ brick with three lines. A gift of $150 allows you to personalize an 8″ x 8″ brick with up to six lines. Tyler and the other 51 other professionals on this year’s list were selected by the editors of Library Journal from 350 nominees from libraries of all types and sizes from across the country. The list provides a snapshot of the transformative work being done in libraries.
AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will offer tax preparation and assistance to seniors and low to moderate income taxpayers on Mondays and Fridays through April 10 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Appointments are necessary and may be made by calling 630/887-8760 ext. 239 or in person at the Adult Ask Us Desk.
Does your business hire teen employees or interns? The library is hosting its third annual Teen Job Fair this spring, and we are looking for local employers interested in participating. The fair, for teens seeking employment, internships, and/or volunteer opportunities, will take place Saturday, April 8, 1-3 p.m. at the library.
If your business would like to participate, please fill out the online form by Friday, March 31. Businesses that apply by Friday, March 10 will be included in event promotions. There is no fee to participate, but space is limited so tables will be first come, first served.
The event is co-hosted by the Darien Chamber of Commerce and the Willowbrook/Burr Ridge Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Baby Bundles are tote bags with two board books and an educational toy for children ages birth to 3 years old. The bags also include an activity guide for caregivers based on the early literacy concepts of reading, writing, talking, singing, and playing. Baby Bundles are located in the Kids & Teens Department, in the Kits section of the Picture Books, and 16 themes are available for checkout including Food, Make Music, Things That Go, and more.
