Marian Anderson at the Lincoln Memorial

Seventy-five years ago on Easter Sunday (April 9, 1939)Marian Anderson sang on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial to a crowd of thousands.  Anderson, an African American opera singer, was denied the use of the Daughters of the American Revolution Hall.  Through the efforts of first lady Eleanor Roosevelt, the concert was moved to the Lincoln Memorial.
