Thank you to those who contributed to our Giving Tree and Food for Fines programs. Our Giving Tree program collected more than 250 items for The Community House at Willowbrook Corner, and our Food for Fines drive took in 1,953 items for the food pantries at Our Lady of Peace and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Darien.
The library is once again offering it’s Food for Fines program. We will forgive a dollar in fines for each nonperishable food or personal care item item brought in. All items collected will be given to local food pantries. You don’t need to have fines to donate. Help us help the community!
Help us help the community this holiday season by donating nonperishable food and personal care items to our Food for Fines drive Saturday, Dec. 5 through Sunday, Dec. 13. All items collected will be distributed to the food pantries at Our Lady of Peace and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Darien.
During the Food for Fines program, if those making donations have fines due, the library will waive one dollar of fines owed for each item donated. However, community members don’t need to have fines due, or even have a library card, to contribute to the drive.
Suggested donations include boxed or canned foods (especially cereal and canned soups), peanut butter and jelly, toilet paper, paper towels, facial tissues, shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant. No opened or expired items, please.
