What is the Veterans History Project?

We have interviewed and recorded the stories of over 100 local veterans who served in conflicts from World War II to the Gulf War. We send the original recordings to the American Folklife Center and keep a copy at the library. Their stories are available below.

How do I get involved?

If you or someone you know is a U.S. veteran, you can help us collect and preserve war stories and experiences as a part of the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. Contact Joe Popowitch at 630/887-8760 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to learn more.
