Youth Services Associate – Mid-Kid
Indian Prairie Public Library is looking for a creative, playful, energetic person to join our Mid-Kid team. If you have fresh ideas for connecting with kids and love reading children’s chapter books, if you throw fabulous themed parties and enjoy rolling up your sleeves to dig into science and art projects - then Indian Prairie Public Library has an opportunity for you.
The person selected to fill our Youth Services Associate –Mid-Kid position will work with the Mid-Kid Librarian in creating and presenting traditional, virtual, and cutting edge services for kids in grades 1-6. Responsibilities include reference and readers/media advisory services, technology services, programming, marketing, and outreach.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree and two years of experience working with grade school and middle school-aged kids. Applicants must be comfortable working with the public and helping youth of all ages, birth-teen. They must also have a genuine interest in youth services and literature. We are looking for a social media user with some Mac experience. Applicants must have excellent communication and collaborative skills, a commitment to quality customer service, and sense of humor. Students working towards an MLS are encouraged to apply.
The salary is $14.16/hour. The position works 18 hours/week including days, evenings and weekends.
