Adult Services Associate

The Indian Prairie Public Library is seeking a part time (15 hour) Adult Services Associate. If you love working with people consider joining our team as we serve the public at our busy Adult Services Desk. Job responsibilities include providing book, movie, and music advisory, answering reference questions, instructing the public in the use of print and electronic resources, including ebooks, ereaders and streaming content, plus preparing book lists and writing book, movie and music recommendations.

The starting salary is $14.48/hour. Qualifications require a Bachelor’s degree and at least one year experience working with the public.

The library is looking for people with enthusiasm and ideas. We offer a dynamic, engaging team environment that values initiative and each individual. Applicants must have a commitment to excellent customer service, a friendly manner, a sense of humor and be a self-starter. Candidates must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Other requirements include a love of reading, movies and music and the ability to speak to others about them in an enthusiastic manner. Applicants must be proficient in using Word, Excel, email and the Internet and able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
