I love to read fiction, especially novels that pull me deep into the lives and minds of unique characters. I enjoy both contemporary work and classics, alternating between bestsellers and literary award winners, depending on my mood. Two of my all-time favorite books are Never Let Me Go and Home.
I’m a huge fan of audiobooks. There’s always one playing in my car and another one downloaded on my phone via Libby. I recently listened to Sing Unburied Sing, Lincoln in the Bardo, and Big Little Lies which was made into an Emmy-award winning HBO series starring Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon. I highly recommend all three.
I also read a bit of nonfiction. Some of my favorites are M Train by Patti Smith, The Year of Magical Thinking by Joan Didion, and anything by Roxane Gay or David Sedaris. Give a listen to David Sedaris on audio. Trust me, you won’t be sorry!
Most of the movies I watch fall into two categories: classic or indie, and for me, the quirkier, the better! My favorite independent films are Being John Malkovich, Ghost World, and Blue Velvet. I do love a good comedy too, so when I want to smile, I’ll pop in Muriel’s Wedding or anything with Doris Day. Since I have two young boys, my television viewing time is limited but I loved the series Lost, am currently binge-watching Grace and Frankie on Netflix, and never tire of classic Twilight Zone episodes.
