It’s not too late to make a Reading Resolution!

Fall is here, and cooler days are the perfect time to get back on track (or get started!) with your Reading Resolution! Those who meet their Reading Resolution goals will be entered into a drawing for a $100 gift card to their favorite bookstore. To be entered into the drawing, simply set a reading goal, meet it, and turn in your reading log to the library.

October is National Reading Group Month. Let us help you pick the next great read for yourself or your book group! Fill out a personalized suggestion form or check out our Book Club Favorites lists. And don’t forget to sign up for our bookish enewsletters to help you meet your goal!

Peace Mural Project Visits IPPL

The Peace Mural Project, a community wide artistic call for peace, is on display at the library through Oct. 14. The mural contains hundreds of 4×4-inch squares on which the public is invited to write or draw their hopes and dreams for peace. The Peace Mural Project was designed and is supervised by artist Janyce Boss and is a project of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Downers Grove.

It’s Banned Books Week!

Celebrate the freedom to read! Stop by our lobby during the following times to get your mug shot taken with a banned book:

  • Tuesday, Sept. 26, 6-8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2-4 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 28, 2-4 p.m.

Keep an eye on our social media to see which staff members were caught reading banned books. Plus, check out our displays and our recommended list to see which popular books have been challenged or banned.
