Whether you’re looking to serve your community or earn service hours, the library has several options for you to start volunteering.
All teen volunteers must be at least 13 years of age to begin volunteering. The library does not provide hours for court-related service requirements at this time. Drop-in volunteer opportunities are typically only available around Winter Break and early January and are posted on the library calendar.
Summer Volunteering
Summer teen volunteers must complete a new permission form and attend one volunteer training session every summer they volunteer. Applications typically become available at the Kids and Teens Desk on the second floor at the beginning of May. Training sessions begin after Memorial Day, and are listed on the library calendar.
The Teen Advisory Service Committee
TASC meets once a month and serves as the library’s main volunteer during the school year. In order to participate in TASC, a teen must either have an Indian Prairie Public Library card or attend one of the library’s served schools. Teen seeking to join TASC must fill out an application and complete a short interview.TASC Applications are typically open during September and October and are closed the rest of the year. Note: TASC is currently full and not taking on new volunteers at this time.
