You’re essential to the library’s provision of services. Your work ensures that materials are checked in properly and are shelved accurately and in a timely manner so they are available for others to check out. You also support interlibrary loan services. When on the floor, you provide a warm welcome to our guests and assist them in finding what they need or connect them with the appropriate staff person.

A position you’ll love:
- While on the floor, you provide an amazing library experience to each guest:
- Helping them find the book they want.
- Assisting them with self-checkout and the copier.
- Acting as a point of referral for other services at the library and connecting people with the right person to help them.
- You take pride in our library, ensuring it is clean and tidy.
- You accurately check in library materials. As you do this, you load carts and sort the materials for shelving, identify items on hold, and route items to other libraries.
- You shelve materials accurately and read shelves to ensure people can find what they are looking for.
- You straighten and shift materials as needed to ensure the shelves look neat and tidy.
- You assist with interlibrary loan services by collecting items on the daily page lists and unpacking the daily delivery from SWAN.
- You inventory the Library of Things to make sure all items are returned in good shape.
- You assist with making sure our lovely building is ready to open and that it is securely closed at night.
- As our guests give feedback, you are sure to get the right information to the right person.
- You continue to grow in your job as you participate in continuing education and training opportunities.
Do you have what it takes?
- At least 16 years old.
- Practical knowledge of computers.
- Good typing skills.
- Reliable transportation
Physical requirements:
- Ability to move loaded book carts and bins throughout the library.
- Ability to bend, lift, retrieve, and shelve library materials.
- Must be able to push, pull, or carry materials as necessary.
- When shelving, be on your feet for 90% of that time.
- Ability to walk, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, climb, and lift up to 20 pounds in a safe manner.
