The library is governed by seven trustees who are elected to serve four-year terms. Trustees serve without pay. The board determines the budget, policies, and plan of service. Contact the trustees by email at
Four library trustee positions are open. All positions are four-year terms that expire in 2031. Candidate packets will be available at the library Guest Services Desk and in the Administration Office beginning Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The first day to file paperwork and petitions in the library's Administration Office is Monday, November 16, 2026. The last day to file is Monday, November 23, 2026. The Administration Office is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The State Board of Elections web site is www.elections.il.gov. Lobbying
The library is a member of the Illinois Library Association (ILA). ILA is a not-for-profit educational institution that also conducts legislative advocacy efforts on behalf of libraries. The Indian Prairie Public Library does not and has never had a direct contract with a lobbying firm.
