As the person our guests go to for technology and maker assistance, you make sure they get what they need, providing seamless service and a wonderful user experience. You’re an ambassador for the library, enthusiastically sharing with our guests all the wonderful things we offer.

- While you’re in the Maker Studio or in the technology area, you provide an amazing library experience to each guest:
- Providing assistance at the Technology Desk by helping guests in using computers, software, equipment, and their own devices by providing information and basic instruction.
- Assisting them in the Maker Studio with their DIY projects, educating them about the equipment, and troubleshooting problems.
- Providing recommendations of devices, equipment, kits, and technology they’ll enjoy.
- Booking computers, equipment, and providing help.
- Providing one-on-one instruction.
- You plan and present programs and classes, including preparation of materials and contributing ideas for Maker and Technology classes.
- You’re familiar with Apple products and software and can assist guests and staff as needed.
- You create and maintain documentation, reports and statistics as needed.
- You assist with set up and clean up for Maker and Technology classes.
- You’re passionate and knowledgeable about what the library has to offer and enjoy talking to our guests about it all.
- You’re skilled at easily showing our guests how they can access and use our many services themselves.
- You take pride in our library, ensuring it is clean and tidy and the display and activity areas are refreshed and looking beautiful.
- You act as a point of referral for other services at the library and connect people with the right person at the right time.
- You’re comfortable learning how to troubleshoot equipment and assist in making sure basic equipment is working correctly.
- As our members and guests give feedback, you’re sure to get the right information to the right person.
- You continue to grow in your job as you participate in continuing education and training opportunities.
Do you have what it takes?
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience teaching technology and/or planning and presenting library programming.
- At least two years of work experience with the public.
- At least two years of experience using computers in a work or educational environment.
- Proficiency in using computers and other devices, including smartphones and tablets.
- Reliable transportation.
Physical requirements:
- Hear, speak, and listen to individuals in person and by telephone.
- Ability to use a mouse, keyboard, touch screens, and computer monitor.
- Ability to push/pull carts with supplies and materials.
- Ability to move throughout the building.
- Ability to set up tables and chairs and arrange furniture as necessary for scheduled meetings and programs.
