Teen Summer Intern

Hey, Teens! Do you enjoy learning new things and playing with younger kids? The Indian Prairie Public Library is looking for a friendly, playful teen who is interested in working with school-aged kids.

The selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating activities in three locations:

  • Wouldshop – IPPL’s hands-on creative space where kids can learn and play
  • Prairie Patch – IPPL’s community garden
  • Burr Ridge Middle School – we’ll visit 3 classrooms, grades K-8

Activities should be educational and fun, and focus on topics such as science, technology, robotics, and art. We will provide the candidate with all of the necessary tools and training.

This temporary position is made possible by the 2019 YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association)/Dollar General Summer Teen Intern Grant. The position includes 10-12 hours per week at a pay rate of $10.50 per hour. The internship lasts for 8 weeks, from June – August. Applicants must be 16-19 years of age to qualify.

The Indian Prairie Public Library District is located in Darien Illinois serving 42,000 residents in the communities of Darien, Willowbrook and Burr Ridge.  Our library is extremely busy with a wide variety of services and programming.  Our patrons love our services and the warm and welcoming staff.
